Although some of the major supermarkets will deliver to the properties, ie Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco and Morrisons, we would highly recommend a visit to Booths. The one in Windermere particularly has amazing meat and fish counter, a large deli with fantastic cheese and cold cuts selection. They have a wonderful range of Ready Meals and artisan frozen meals to feed a large number of people. The vegetables are wonderful, in season you may find Amalfi lemons, fresh globe artichokes, Roscoff onions and lots of other wonderful ingredients. The Wine and Spirits have very knowledgable staff who can help you select wine to suit your meal or occasion. Top notch!

Long established Lakeland village butcher, produce from the renowned cumbrian farmers. Look for a cut called lamb Henry, taken from the lamb shoulder its a regional speciality.

Lovely Independent farm shop with an excellent butchers counter. They are very keen on local sourcing and keeping down food miles. Lots of special meat packs and prepared marinated produce. Sausages are excellent. Also have small selection of basic locally grown vegetables, eggs, and locally produced artisan beer and spirits, cakes and sweets, jams and chutneys.
LOW SIZERGH BARN, Sizergh, Kendal. Set on a working farm, you will find everything you would expect from a high quality farm shop and lots more besides. Huge selection of cheese, baked goods, organic vegetables, game in season, artisan ready meals. We love this place, you can spend ages browsing and have a cuppa or breakfast in the fabulous upstairs cafe, lunch or afternoon tea, its all delicious, very friendly service and you can take home unique raw milk from the vending machine, straight from the Low Sizergh Dairy Herd…
KENDAL FISH AND SEAFOOD. Great fishmonger, smoked fish, prawns, monkfish, haddock, hake, cod, tuna they have a fantastic display of wonderful spanking fresh fish. Ring up and order if you want something special, live lobsters, crabs etc., but if you’re looking for inspiration then you wont be lacking for choice, very friendly and helpful, they will prepare your fish for you and advise is always on hand! Game in season, they have a list you can pre-order from.
LAKE DISTRICT LOBSTER AND SEAFOOD COMPANY, Ulverston
Chris and his team have wonderful fish and seafood, Morecombe Bay fresh cockles, potted shrimps, local lobsters – live and cooked, crabs, fresh mackeral, artisanal smoked produce, its a seafood lovers dream plus game when available. Suppliers to Cumbria’s top restaurants so give them a call and they may deliver to your holiday cottage. One of my favourite suppliers in the Lakes!!!

Occupying a unit at Plumgarths is this small family owned artisan bread producer, specialising in sourdough products from heritage style to rthe more unusual, loaves are freshly baked daily and way beyond anything you’ll find in a supermarket, If you love sourdough, this is the real thing!

The lakeland flagship store has everything plus great service, a lovely cafe and free parking, I defy anyone to come out of there with only the item they went in for!! Great for gifts for yourself and friends.
